Introduction
You are planning to resign right? If the boss doesn’t ask you to simply leave he will ask you to hand in a resignation letter. You can’t cite the obvious reasons for your resignation if they can sure hurt some one. You can’t say that your boss hated you and was a tyrant so you had to leave.
Consider this hypothetical situation that you are employed in a job that you hate. Your boss is the worst possible that ever could be and the pay is worse. So obviously you look for another job and after some repeated efforts you land an offer. You simply walk out of the office, no intimation, no notice nothing simply done.
Fine, you might be pleased with yourself. Consider this, a few years down the line you need to finalize a deal with some client which means big bucks to your office. You head for the meeting and from somewhere, the guy who is your client happens to be your old boss, doing a new job somewhere else, then what?
It is common today that a lot of careers and made and broken on the basis of personal relationships these days. A simple resignation letter can go a long way in securing your future, in some way which you can’t even imagine right now. Also on a short term basis a resignation letter will fetch you a reference form your ex- employer.
Writing the Resignation Letter
Now comes the Herculean task. This is because you are resigning from your present job either because you are not happy with it, or have been offered a better one. So it’s going to be a challenge writing a letter that will help you maintain balance and not anger your former employer. Bosses often take personal interest in their staff and are not too happy if a good team member leaves. This is because they are also answerable to their superiors about a diminished work force.
Your resignation letter should be such which should give your now ex- employer the satisfaction of being absolved of any blame. No matter if they were wrong; you are leaving so it won’t make any more difference to you. Put your personal feelings behind you.
