For some individuals, being able to gel with other people is no easy task. The simple solution for these unfortunate few is learning to adjust in life and being able to love others as they love themselves. Some people are really nice at heart but at the same time are unable to get along with others. These kind of behavioral problems are hazardous for an organization where we have to work hand in hand with our co-workers. It is a major deterrent in terms of management growth.

You might have noticed that in a company the most popular guys are the ones to climb the corporate ladder much easily and faster than the others. If you don't get along with your colleagues, it has an adverse effect on your work career which might not be successful. This in turn will affect your relation with your customers.

Mutual Understanding is the Key

Each person in an organization contributes to the success of its business in some way or the other. Each one has a significant role to play. These responsibilities are usually shared by the work force as one team. Therefore, mutual understanding between the co-workers is very essential. If you are a prejudiced lot or an odd man out at your workplace, sooner or later you will be shown the exit door. Your work associates are the primary customers that you have to deal with before facing an external customer. They teach you the first lesson in customer orientation. They form a major link between you and the real customers. They are an integral part of your work force. They are those valuable colleagues, who help you out with any internal problem in the organization. So having a cordial relation with your co-workers really takes you places.

Handle them with Patience

Many a times, we tend to under-estimate our colleagues; we may find them irksome and boring to work together. But, the trick is to know to handle them patiently without getting upset. Right handling of difficult co-workers will also give an insight to understand your equally difficult customers. This in turn enhances your efficiency in a big way. And eventually it is the overall performance that is taken into consideration in any organization. Look at all the positive outcomes of such tricky situations.

Keeping Co-workers Satisfied

The customer oriented companies are smart enough to know that the key to a profitable turnover is in making the employees happy who in turn keep the customers satisfied. Being a part of an organization, you need to understand that co-worker satisfaction is as important as customer satisfaction. Gone are the days when people feared that undue compliments and attention would spoil their sub ordinates and peers, and that they might start to have a casual approach to their work. But the tables are surely turning, nowadays it is necessary to go out of the way in facilitating deserving and potential co-workers as they realize that only this makes the workers more determined and helpful.

Some important aspects in making your workers more efficient are as follows:

•  Treat your co-workers with the same respect and concern you show for your customers.

•  Recognize their positive efforts and shower compliments occasionally, it will make the work environment more congenial.

•  Understand that your immediate boss is also your co-worker. Make him happy by giving files and reports much before he actually asks them. Surprise your co-workers by doing an additional job or two for them.

•  The co-workers will appreciate your efforts at helping them out and in times of emergency they will be eager to help and assist in solving your problems at the work front.

So just remember the proverb that, ‘the only way to have a friend is to be one'.
