You always need to prepare in advance for being successful in an interview. First impressions are the last impressions hold true specifically in such situations. You need to catch the interest of the interviewer in your candidacy and then to seal the pact that is to land the job offer, you should be thorough with the knowledge of the concerned industry and the organization’s operations individually too.
This is as far as your knowledge is concerned; here however you need to be aware of certain tricks of the trade. I am not saying that you don’t need a good working knowledge of the industry but what I am trying to tell you is that how to effectively present the knowledge in your person. An organization always wishes to hire people with whom they will be comfortable working with and those who will convey a positive image of the organization. To be able to carry forth the culture of some industry you need to be thoroughly prepared.
Knowing your resume matters
Before you go forward for the interview, take some time out to do a tiny exercise. Simply place yourselves in the place of the employer. Mentally think of yourself as a product and then asses your abilities on which you should be hired or why you deserve to be hired. What unique qualities that you posses make you the right choice for the job. Review your resume yourselves and add to it by giving situational examples.
You will memorize and know your resume better this way. You will also be able to highlight your skills better and they will be the high points of your resume. You need not limit yourselves to your professional life only but you can also highlight your skills in your personal life too. Be sure to discuss both the positive and negative aspects of yourself and have a learning attitude so that your negative things won’t let you down.
Knowledge of the Industry and Organization
When the interviewer asses you during the interview he basically wishes to discern your ability to adjust yourself in the organization, your knowledge of the field and also your know how about the organization to which you have come looking for work. All these things need to be kept in mind before you start preparations for any interview.
The Organization’s status in the current industry its average turnover, major changes made if any and various details that are important to it should be in your knowledge. It’s not just you who will be answering all the questions you can and should address some questions to the interviewers too. These questions should pertain to the organization and its work patterns which will help you decide whether you want to work for it or not.
Thus preparing for an interview is an integrated process that requires a lot of research and hard work to be successful.
