What does your CV say about you?

Introduction
Your CV definitely creates an impression about you. This is probably one of the most important documents that you ever create for yourself. However many people don’t even spend more than an hour on it.
You may feel that they are well versed in the art of CV writing and that their CVs will be accurate then. They will hurriedly dish out all their life’s history of achievements and jobs etc and that’s that. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
Reflect
You are going to hand over a sheaf of papers or probably an email to a complete stranger with various facts from your life and you sit back and expect it to change everything for you. Have you ever though that your writing could be self referential and make complete sense to you but not to the other person.
Often as is the case you might miss out on something very important that needed to be there in your CV just because you thought the person reading it will understand what you meant. But this doesn’t happen always.
For once objectively analyze your CV without thinking it is yours or pass it to a friend and ask then what it conveys to them. Based on yours and their response you can know how appealing your CV is.
The response will tell you how clear you are to someone who doesn’t know anything about your field, at times even the recruiter could also know as little. This might not be the case always but if it is, then please take steps to cover yourself.
Splitting
You need to focus on each part of the CV in individuality and analyze it; this is because the recruiter too will concentrate on parts of your CV rather than the whole of it. He is getting to know you for the first time from that document.
This practice will make your CV refined in all the areas rather than doing bits of editing that is wont to give it an inconsistent feel.
Analyze
After you have read your CV as something that is supposedly not your own you can comment whether you liked reading what you got? This will give you a fair idea of how well written is your CV. Have you catered to the requirements of the job?
Summarization
It doesn’t go like this that you just churn out a CV and send it to apply for various jobs. You need t give it quality time to almost develop it and nurture it like you would do to a child or a plant.
